In this week’s issue, I learned so much from our coverage of the 80th anniversary of D-Day—a 1944 battle that led to the defeat of Germany and the end of World War II in Europe (p12). I didn’t realize the invasion took about a year to plan! And the photos of US troops carrying out the mission made me appreciate the democracy we live in today. In our cover story (p10), I was excited to read about efforts being made in Australia to protect koalas, such as planting more trees for them to live in. I also hope to get to a movie theater soon to see Young Woman and the Sea (p20). It’s about Trudy Ederle, who overcame many obstacles to become the first woman to successfully swim across…
