Following the rules, with an artistic twist

One California boat owner found a very creative way to follow instructions. The city of Seaside ordered Etienne Constable to build a 6-foot-high fence to block his boat from public view. Constable put up the fence—then asked an artist to paint it with a realistic mural of the boat and its surroundings, making it appear as if there was no fence at all. Constable said he’s “not a rule breaker,” but he enjoyed making “a creative statement.” Is this story real, or have we gone overboard with lies?* *Real! The clever mural went viral online, and Etienne Constable said he was “tickled” by people’s reactions. The artist who painted the mural, Hanif Panni, has already received requests to create similar artwork for other boat owners.…
