World’s largest 3D printer unveiled

The University of Maine has built the world’s largest 3D printer. Known as the Factory of the Future 1.0, the machine is four times bigger than the university’s previous 3D printer, which held the same record. Factory of the Future 1.0 is so big it fills an entire building on campus. It can print objects up to 96 feet long, 32 feet wide, and 18 feet high. Using improved sensors, robotics, and artificial intelligence, it can print up to 500 pounds of materials per hour. The team that created the new printer hopes it can be used to address a housing shortage in the state.
