Creative ways to save koalas

Koalas are one of Australia’s most iconic animals, but they are at risk of disappearing from the wild. Experts are now testing several different ways to protect the species. It is believed that koalas were once common across Australia. After Europeans settled there in the 1700s, however, the animals began to disappear from many areas. Today they are considered endangered in at least two Australian states. Counting koalas is difficult, but between 100,000 and 500,000 adult koalas are estimated to remain in the wild.
