Editor is remembered

Robert Gottlieb, an award-winning editor for more than 60 years, died on June 14 at age 92. Gottlieb grew up in New York City, where he and his parents read books at the dinner table. He served as the editor-in-chief of two major publishing companies, Alfred A. Knopf and Simon & Schuster, and worked with authors such as Toni Morrison, Bill Clinton, and Ray Bradbury. Gottlieb was also the editor of The New Yorker magazine for five years. In 2016, he wrote a memoir about his life and his love of editing.
