Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrated

The US observed Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 16. The federal holiday honors one of America’s greatest civil rights leaders. The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 15, 1929. At the time, segregation (the unjust separation of Black people from white people) was legal in much of America. As a minister and community leader, he devoted his life to achieving racial equality for all people. In 1963, Dr. King helped organize the March on Washington to promote civil rights.
