A musical marathon in Ghana

The world may have a new singing champion. From December 24 to 29, Afua Asantewaa of Ghana sang continuously for 126 hours and 52 minutes, beating the previous record by almost a full day. In an attempt to achieve a title from Guinness World Records, which has not yet been certified, Asantewaa paused for less than 30 seconds between songs and was allowed a five-minute break every hour. Asantewaa, who performed the singing spectacle in order to promote Ghanaian music and culture, said she hopes to inspire other women “to come out of your comfort zone and try new opportunities.”…
