Teen beats “unbeatable” game

The classic puzzle game Tetris was considered unbeatable—until a 13-year-old proved everybody wrong. Tetris players have to position virtual blocks so they are cleared off the screen, but by level 29 the blocks start falling so quickly most humans cannot keep up. On December 21, Willis Gibson, a competitive player from Oklahoma, advanced to level 157—at which point the game crashed because it was not designed for players to get so far. In the past, only machines have achieved a level high enough to beat the game. “I can’t feel my fingers,” Gibson said after completing the feat.…
