Top football coaches leave jobs

Over the course of two days, three of the most accomplished coaches in football history—Nick Saban, Bill Belichick, and Pete Carroll—left their jobs. They have coached in nearly half of the 48 combined Super Bowls and college football championship games that have been played since 2000 and won about one third of them. On January 10, Saban, head coach at the University of Alabama, announced his retirement. He won six championships in 17 seasons at Alabama and another national championship at Louisiana State University. He has more titles than any other coach in college football history. The next day, two National Football League (NFL) teams delivered their own major news.
