Light keeper retires

Sally Snowman, who is the last full-time working lighthouse keeper in the US, has retired. For 20 years, Snowman, age 72, cared for the Boston Light Beacon, located on Little Brewster Island in Massachusetts. The lighthouse will continue to shine a light as a navigational aid for ships, but the light is now automated and run by the Coast Guard. Snowman, who lived at the lighthouse until 2018, focused on preserving it and serving as a tour guide, which she hopes to continue to do as a volunteer. “I believe we are all beacons of light,” she told her local radio station.…
