In this issue, our first of 2025, we pay tribute to Jimmy Carter, the former US President who died on December 29 at age 100. He led a remarkable life. After growing up in a house in Georgia that had no electricity, Carter attended the Naval Academy, became a state politician, and set his sights on the Presidency. He was elected to that office in 1976 and served one term. Carter will be remembered most, however, for what he did after that. He returned to the modest home where he had lived before moving to the White House and devoted himself to humanitarian causes for the next 40 years.
