Celebrating the Lunar New Year

On February 10, more than 2 billion people around the world will mark the start of the Lunar New Year, one of the most important Asian holidays. It is celebrated in many Asian countries, including China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam, and in Asian communities in the US and other countries. The timing of Lunar New Year follows the lunar (relating to the Moon) calendar. The holiday begins on the first new Moon of the year, which is typically between January 21 and February 20.
