Music legend Elton John has achieved a rare win in the performing arts.

When British singer-songwriter Sir Elton John won his first Emmy for his TV special Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium on January 15, it meant he became an EGOT winner. An EGOT is when an artist wins the highest awards in the four major performing arts fields: Emmy (TV award), Grammy (music award), Oscar (film award), and Tony (theater award). He is the 19th person to ever achieve it. John, age 76, was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in England. He taught himself to play piano at age 3 and was awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London at age 11.
