Top college reinstates test requirement

On February 5, one of the nation’s most selective colleges announced that it will again require students applying for admission to submit their score after taking the SAT or ACT, the two US college entrance exams. The tests are intended to measure a high school student’s readiness for college and provide colleges with a common score that can be used to compare all applicants. What happened? Dartmouth College, located in Hanover, New Hampshire, said an internal review led officials to reinstate the testing requirement. During the pandemic, Dartmouth and many other colleges dropped the exam requirement because health restrictions made it difficult for students to take the in-person tests.
