Notre-Dame Cathedral will reopen

On February 3, French officials announced that Notre-Dame Cathedral, which was partially destroyed in a fire in 2019, will officially reopen on December 8, 2024. Notre-Dame is located in Paris, the French capital. The reopening will be followed by six months of celebrations, ending in June 2025. Notre-Dame, a famous example of Gothic architecture, is more than 850 years old and a symbol of France worldwide. Before the fire, about 13 million people visited each year. The cathedral has been mostly closed to the public since April 15, 2019, when the fire broke out in an attic. More than 500 firefighters fought the blaze.
