We spoke to the author of the Book of the Week.

What inspired this book? I wanted to share my own story about my life growing up. I was excited and scared, but I knew I had to find a way to do it. What was the hardest part about writing it? The hardest part was taking my childhood memories and figuring out how to turn them into a story. I was surprised at how often I had to rewrite scenes. What do you and the character Cindy have most in common? We both love drawing, pineapple buns, and looking for sea cucumbers at aquarium touch pools! Did you love to draw growing up? Yes, I’d fill sketchbooks with drawings while listening to music in my room. Favorite winter activity? Baking cookies and having a hot drink. So comforting!…
