Inspiring winners at Dakar Rally

The 46th edition of the world’s biggest motorsports event, the Dakar Rally, concluded on January 19. It was a two-week, 12-stage offroad race over nearly 5,000 miles in Saudi Arabia. The Dakar Rally has competitions for five categories of vehicles: motorbikes, quads, cars, lightweight vehicles, and trucks. The race began with 340 vehicles, but only 239 made it to the finish line. The big winner in the car category was Spanish racer Carlos Sainz, age 61. He is the oldest competitor to win the race, and this was the fourth Dakar win of his career.
