A hotel in Sweden that melts away

Since 1989, the village of Jukkasjarvi in Sweden has been welcoming guests to a beautiful hotel made entirely from snow and ice. The hotel is rebuilt by artists every year and left to melt away each spring. This year’s version, Icehotel 34, is made from more than 550 tons of ice—enough to fill 10 Olympic swimming pools—and has a main hall, a ceremony hall, and themed rooms featuring ice sculptures. The hotel is so cold that drinks can be served in glasses made out of ice, and overnight guests sleep in thermal sleeping bags.…
