On March 9, scientists announced that they had discovered the wreck of a famous ship called Endurance, solving one of the biggest mysteries in exploration. Endurance sank near Antarctica 106 years ago. Many people have tried to find it since then, but the icy, dangerous conditions in the water where it was known to have sunk made the search extremely challenging.
In August 1914, British explorer Ernest Shackleton and a crew of 27 men set sail in a 144-foot-long wooden ship from England to Antarctica.
