Editor’s note

The second-to-last issue of each calendar year is always one of my favorites because that’s when we have the honor of announcing the winner of our annual Winter Cover Contest (p14). This year we received more than 2,000 entries—the highest number ever! We carefully considered each one and then faced the difficult task of choosing our 10 finalists and ultimately our winner. Congratulations to Josie, our grand prize recipient, for her drawing titled “Penguin Love,” which captivated us with its artistic quality as well as its charm! Congratulations, also, to runners-up Anavi and Masooma and all our finalists. Thank you, as well, to every child who entered the contest. Each one of you impressed us!
