Adding art to sports

When college football teams want custom artwork on their helmets, they call airbrush artist Armando Villarreal. His designs have honored players, for example, or re-created the look of leather helmets from the early 1900s (below). An army veteran from Nebraska, Villarreal honed his airbrushing skills on motorcycles. His big break came in 2018 when he was hired to design a helmet for Mississippi State University.
