My brother and several other family members live in the area of New York state that was hit by a historic snowstorm last week (p5). Seeing the photos of such an incredible amount of snow brought back memories of an even bigger storm that struck the region when I was growing up there—the Blizzard of 1977, which dropped more than 100 inches of snow on some counties! I recall the way our community—including firefighters on snowmobiles!—came together to make sure people had the food, water, and heat they needed to get through it. The same kind spirit was shown during this storm, and I am grateful for that. As I write this note, Thanksgiving is two days away and I am feeling grateful for many other things as well, including…
