A most unusual procedure

Larry Gordon of Tacoma, Washington wasn’t feeling well, so doctors wanted to do a CT scan (a type of X-ray) to better understand his condition. But Gordon isn’t like most patients: He is a leopard moray eel. To get his unusual scan done, zoo staff transferred him in a plastic tub full of medicated water to keep him calm. Although the 5-foot eel was too long to completely straighten out inside the scanner, the medical team was able to get a detailed 3D image of his body and help him regain his health.…
