An amazingly artistic bird An injured bird has reinvented himself as a painter. Ferrisburgh is a kestrel, a bird of prey in the falcon family, who lives at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science. After a wing injury left him unable to fly, staff introduced Ferrisburgh to painting with his talons. He took to it like a bird to a branch and has even helped lead an art class for visitors. Now some of Ferrisburgh’s paintings are being sold to support the nature center.
