Listening to favorite songs relieves pain

Past studies have shown that music can reduce a person’s sensitivity to pain. Now a new study from McGill University in Canada has found that listening to your favorite music can reduce physical pain even further. In the study, 63 people were exposed to heat that felt like a hot cup being pressed against the skin. They experienced this while listening to different samples of music for about seven minutes and reported how intense and unpleasant their pain was throughout the process. One sample consisted of two of the participants’ favorite songs, while another had music that was considered relaxing.
