Former First Lady remembered

Rosalynn Carter, a former First Lady of the US, died on November 19 at age 96. She was known as a champion of the principles she believed in and a political partner to her husband, Jimmy Carter, age 99, who served as President from 1977 to 1981. Rosalynn Carter was born in 1927 in the small town of Plains, Georgia. In 1946, she married Jimmy, who also grew up in Plains. The Carters had four children and were married for 77 years, the longest of any Presidential couple in US history. She campaigned for her husband and was his “closest adviser,” he said, while he was state senator and governor of Georgia and the 39th President. Rosalynn Carter helped transform the traditional role of First Lady into an active one.…
