Ireland Government pays for schoolbooks Parents of elementary school children in Ireland will no longer have to pay for schoolbooks. Starting in September, the government will provide about $104 per student, which will enable 3,230 schools to provide textbooks and workbooks for 558,000 children. It is the first time books have been funded for every student and will save families from having to buy or rent them.
