What animal would you like to be? A rhinoceros. They make appearances in many of my books, one way or another. What was your favourite subject in school? English, because it gave me a chance to write. I was also really good at maths, so those classes were actually fun for me. I treated it like puzzles. Where did the idea for this book come from? A terrible, terrible pun. There’s a whole class of lizards called monitor lizards. American schools have students who are hall monitors. You see where I’m going with that?
