What is the story of the hostages so far?

On 7 October last year, Hamas attacked Israel, kidnapped 250 people and took them back to Gaza as hostages (prisoners). Hamas also killed 1,200 people. Since then, Israel’s military has been attacking Gaza, where more than 40,000 people have been killed. Israel says it aims to defeat Hamas and bring back the hostages. In November 2023, a six-day ceasefire led to the release of 105 hostages from Gaza in exchange for 240 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel. Around 100 hostages are still being held by Hamas.…
