Wight’s fearsome new dinos
Researcher shave found the remains of a nine metre dinosaur with sharp claws and crocodile like teeth that stalked what is now the south of England around 125 million years ago. The creature has been named Ceratosuchops inferodios, which means “horned, crocodile-faced hell-heron”. It is one of two new dinosaur predators discovered on the Isle of Wight as fossils (impressions or traces of ancient plants or animals preserved in rock). Its skull has traces of bumps and horns, and the team studying the fossils think it might have think it have hunted like a heron – standing still at the the edge of the water, ready to pounce creatures.
