11 October 1982 Mary Rose salvaged after 437 years 42 years ago, experts raised the Mary Rose, a 16th century shipwreck, from the sea bed. It was King Henry VIII’s favourite ship but it sank in a battle against the French in the Solent, a stretch of water between the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth, in England. Although the wreck was found in 1966, teams had to dig around it carefully for years until the ship could be lifted safely. Today, visitors can admire the remains of Mary Rose in Portsmouth.…
