Golden Jackal

For the first time, golden jackals (a species in the same family as dogs) have moved further west into Europe, including Finland, Norway and Spain. Experts think climate change has caused them to look for new habitats. The animals usually stay away from humans but they will be in competition with foxes and wolves. ● LIFESPAN: Up to nine years in the wild.● HABITAT: Parts of Asia, Africa and Europe – deserts, grasslands, forests and wetlands.● SIZE: They are about 40 centimetres tall and weigh between eight and 10 kilograms.● DIET: Birds, carrion (already dead animals), lizards, plants, rodents, snakes and livestock (farm animals).● FUN FACT: Sometimes the previous year’s cubs stay with their parents to help raise the new cubs.…
