Should children learn to grow food?

Some people say growing food is good for the mind and body.
Should children learn to grow food?
Can you tell the difference between a pepper and a parsnip? A recent survey of 1,000 children, aged seven to 11, found that nearly half (49%) have tried growing their own food at school. However, a third could not identify some vegetables, including beetroot and courgette. The same survey found that pupils are more likely to eat fruit and vegetables they haven’t tried before when they have helped to grow them. This made them more tempting to children than seeing them served up with dinners, or even being eaten by their favourite pop star.
