Results of poetry survey revealed

To mark National Poetry Day on 3 October, the charity the National Literacy Trust revealed the results of a survey that found out how much children in England are engaging with poetry. Almost 5,000 children, aged from eight to 16, took part in the research. The survey found that just under half of children and young people in England are engaging with poetry in some form. This could mean they read poetry, write it, listen to it or perform it. Those who do engage with poetry mentioned lots of benefits. They said that poetry helps their confidence, improves their ability to learn and makes it easier for them to understand how others are feeling.
