Snail’s slime trail solves crime When officials in Düsseldorf airport, in Germany, saw a snail on the floor, they thought it was a toy that had been dropped. That is, until it started moving. They followed the slime trail the large snail had made, which led them to six bags containing 93 giant African snails. The snails were being smuggled (moved illegally) from Nigeria to Germany. Thanks to the snail’s trail, officials also found bags and suitcases containing smuggled meat and fish. The snails were handed over to an animal rescue service.
