Nina, aged eight, is a regular Week Junior reader and a keen poet. She has loved poetry ever since her father read verses to her from a big book called The Lost Words. Now, Nina’s favourite poem is Tarantella by Hilaire Belloc. Poetry is a way for Nina to express her thoughts and feelings. Here is one she wrote to inspire other children. “When you’re writing Poetry, you don’t Have to rhyme. In fact, you Don’t have to Use similes and Metaphors. Just keep it Simple and write What you like. It can also Be hate or Fear. Just get all Your feelings down On paper. You can have Lots of repetition In it. It doesn’t even Have to make Sense.
