Some people say that the school age should be raised to six.
Should children start school at a later age?
Across the UK, most children start full-time school when they are four years old. However, a political party in Scotland has said that children should stay in early-learning education, like nursery, until they are about six before moving to school. The Scottish National Party says that allowing children to have more play-based learning is good for them, and going into formal education too early can be bad for their confidence. Children in Finland don’t go until they are seven and their school performance is among the best in Europe. Some people think that going to school at a younger age helps with reading, writing and maths, and teaches discipline and how to mix well with other people. What do you think?
