Brothers of Italy

Giorgia Meloni co-founded her political party, Brothers of Italy (Fratelli d’Italia), in 2012, taking its name from the first line of the Italian national anthem. The party’s popularity increased when it did not support the very unpopular government led by Mario Draghi. Brothers of Italy’s slogan, “God, fatherland and family”, was used by fascist parties in Italy (fascists believe in strong government, strict rules and few rights for people who are different), including that of Benito Mussolini. Mussolini was Italy’s leader during the Second World War (1939–1945) and was a strong supporter of Hitler’s Nazi Germany.…
