Tamil footballing first

This is Vimal Yoganathan, the first Tamil footballer to play professionally in England. The Tamils are a group of people originally from India. Three million Tamil people live in Sri Lanka, where Yoganathan’s family are from. The 18-year-old has played several times for Barnsley’s first team and scored his first goals for them in August. Yoganathan, who was born in Wales and plays for their under-19s team, wants to inspire other young people. He told the BBC, “Being a role model will be a big part of being a footballer. Hopefully I can do that and inspire younger players coming through – especially Tamil people.”…
