As we were getting this issue ready to go to press, we were also getting ready to shortlist and judge our Christmas cover competition. For weeks we have been receiving your fantastic artworks and my next job today (along with our other judges) will be trying to whittle down the selection. We love the pictures, stories, poems and photos you send in. Just looking at the page opposite, I am impressed by Luca’s amazingly enormous parsnip! I like to grow vegetables too but all I managed was some tomatoes and a few courgettes in the summer. I think I need to take some lessons from Luca.
