Weather scientist Paul Knightley travels around the world following and studying tornadoes.

Every year, people travel to the US to study tornadoes – powerful rotating wind storms shaped like a funnel. The US has more tornadoes than any other country. Paul Knightley, who works in weather forecasting, has visited the US to go “storm-chasing” 19 times since 1998. He told The Week Junior that he’s always been really interested in weather, especially tornadoes because the way they behave is so remarkable. “We still don’t know really why they occur,” he said. Tornadoes can be very dangerous but Knightley said that he doesn’t get that close to them.
