Children In Need raises £39 million

Children In Need has raised more than £39 million in its annual charity fundraising appeal. Children In Need is the BBC’s charity for disadvantaged young people across the UK. It currently funds nearly 1,500 charities and children’s projects including family centres, youth clubs and homeless shelters. This year’s appeal featured fundraising efforts by celebrities, communities, schools and young people, and it finished with a live televised show on 15 November. TV and radio presenter Paddy McGuinness raised more than £9 million by completing a five-day cycle ride across the UK, riding a children’s 1970s Raleigh Chopper bike called Patch. He cycled nearly 300 miles, beginning in Wales and riding into England before finishing in Scotland. McGuinness said that meeting people who were helped by Children In Need projects motivated him.…
