Earth’s impact craters

According to the Planetary and Space Science Centre in Canada, there are 190 confirmed impact craters on Earth, formed by space rocks. One of these is the Wolfe Creek Crater in Australia, which scientists think was created 120,000 years ago. It’s home to lots of wildlife, including cockatoos and a type of lizard called the ring-tailed dragon. Canada’s Pingualuit Crater has filled with rainwater to form a lake more than 260 metres deep. In Germany, people have built a town inside the Nördlinger Ries crater. People thought it was a volcanic crater until the 1960s, when scientists identified it as an impact crater.…
