What is 30x30?

30x30 is a goal to protect 30% of Earth’s land and oceans by 2030. It is part of The Biodiversity Plan, an international commitment to protect the planet. The plan contains 23 targets for countries to achieve by 2030, and four to achieve by 2050. At COP15 (a big meeting in 2022 about climate change attended by lots of countries), 196 countries – including the UK – committed to The Biodiversity Plan. The UK’s plan to meet its target includes looking at ways to increase the amount and variety of wildlife in its national parks.…
