Gauff wins WTA Finals

Tennis players compete in matches for most of the year and the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open (the Grand Slams) are the most important tournaments. Around this time each year, the eight top players also qualify to take part in an end-of-season competition called the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals. On 9 November, Coco Gauff won the WTA Finals singles event in Saudi Arabia for the first time. The 20-year-old US player defeated China’s Zheng Qinwen. Gauff lost the first set but battled back to win the second.
