UK marks Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance events have taken place across the UK to honour the men and women who fought and died in the First and Second World Wars and other conflicts. Remembrance Day is an annual event that marks the day when the First World War ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. Each year, a ceremony also takes place on the second Sunday in November, known as Remembrance Sunday. This year, Remembrance Sunday was on 10 November. Thousands of people, including royalty, politicians, members of the armed forces and civilians (non-military people), gathered for a ceremony at the Cenotaph (a memorial to people who have died in wars around the world) in London.
