New plays for drama exams

From September, GCSE and A-Level drama students will be able to study new plays by writers of colour. The change was announced by an educational charity called AQA, which provides exams in the UK. The idea is to make the school curriculum a better reflection of today’s students and teachers. Four plays are being added, including Tanika Gupta’s The Empress, which shows Queen Victoria’s friendship with her servant Abdul Karim and a nanny called Rani Das.…
