United Nations chief praises young people

The head of the United Nations (UN) has praised young people for fighting climate change and standing up for equality. The UN is an organisation of 193 countries that work together on the challenges facing humanity. António Guterres, who is from Portugal and has been Secretary-General (head) of the UN since 2017, delivered his message at a yearly meeting for young people organised by the UN’s Economic and Social Council. He said, “Young people are leading the way in the fight against climate change, standing up for racial justice and gender equality, holding leaders to account.
