New York, US Artwork breaks records at auction Artist Andy Warhol’s portrait of actor Marilyn Monroe has sold for £158 million at an auction in New York. This has made it the most expensive piece of work by an American artist to be sold at an auction. Warhol made the picture in 1964, two years after Monroe’s death, and it is one of his most famous works.
