While Labor won, the election also saw major wins for the Australian Green party, which secured seats in both Australia’s parliamentary houses. The Greens have achieved the best result in their history, with leader, Adam Bandt, describing it as a “greenslide”. He went on to say that the party had delivered “a massive mandate for action on climate and inequality”, and said that voters had chosen the party because of its commitment to stopping climate change.
